Creel Estimates as Supplied by the DNR

This table gives you creel estimates for selected fish species from the Marquette area, 1987-2004 (note that no estimates are available for 1989 and 1994). These estimates show that Lake Trout catches for 2000 through 2004 are as high as they’ve ever been, especially considering that estimates of effort (angler hours) in 2000 and 2001 are only about two-thirds what they were in 1992 and 1993. Salmon catches have fluctuated, as might be expected for these species and due to variable stocking rates (especially limited stocking for Coho).

Likewise, commercial yield of lake Whitefish in the Marquette area has been quite consistent during the 1990s through 2001.
